Synopsis

NYPD Detective Marcus Webb has spent twenty years solving the cases no one else could close. He is about to find the one he should not have opened.

When a U.S. Senator turns up dead — drained of blood, arranged like a warning — Webb sees a pattern before anyone else does: seven deadly sins, seven victims, and a killer with the patience of a man who has been planning this for decades. As the bodies climb through Washington's highest offices, one name keeps surfacing in Webb's evidence: the city's most beloved, most untouchable Mayor.

Detective Elena Chen does not want to believe her partner's theory. The Mayor has an alibi for every murder, a defense for every accusation, and an approval rating that makes him nearly impossible to touch. But the closer Webb gets to the truth, the more he wonders whether "impossible to touch" means something more literal than anyone on this investigation is ready to admit.
